On Saturday, May 23rd 2009, VZones lost a dedicated, valued and vital member of our family. James Nosworthy passed away from burns suffered in a tragic accident at the age of 31.
James has been the VZones server admin, head technician, chief programmer and "go-to" tech for VZones since 2001 when he came on board and had to learn a proprietary system running on old servers using out of date software. The worlds crashed repeatedly and often with some being down for days.
James was integral in moving the worlds to newer better servers, tweaking the existing code to enable vital server functions to maintain the worlds and reduce downtimes. It is also due to James' tireless efforts that our billing and databases run smoothly and are able to adapt and expand with our members' requests and needs.
It is entirely due to James and his unseen work that our worlds are stable with almost no downtimes or extended crashes. He understood and appreciated the importance of these communities to our staff and members and always strove for 24/7 uptimes.
As you can see James was a lynchpin of our community and he will be missed more than words express. The best way we know how to pay tribute to him is to share with you some of the extraordinary remembrances since his tragic death.
If you would like to add something we've put up a thread for everyone to share their thoughts, feelings and remembrances. We will be collecting these to share with James' family and friends.
VZones Management sends our deepest condolences to his wife, Carol. If you wish details of the funeral please contact VZones Support and we will forward your emails to the Nosworthy family.
